  • HISTORICAL ASPECTS:
  • The USS Enterprise (CVN-65) is one of the most iconic aircraft carriers in the history of the United States Navy. The J deck, or Legend Section #J, was the location of numerous F-14 Tomcats flown by VF-111 "Sundowners" during the Pacific Quest of 1989. One of the most notable aircraft that flew from this section was the F-14A BuNo. 161621, which belonged to the "Sundowners" and was flown in several missions during the deployment.
  • During the Pacific Quest of 1989, the USS Enterprise was part of the naval task force that responded to the crisis in the Persian Gulf following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The carrier, along with its air wing, played a crucial role in the initial stages of Operation Desert Shield. The "Sundowners" were among the squadrons that flew sorties to enforce the no-fly zone over Iraq and to provide close air support to ground forces.
  • The F-14A BuNo. 161621, flown by VF-111 "Sundowners", was among the Tomcats that provided air cover during the initial phases of the operation. It flew numerous sorties to escort reconnaissance and attack aircraft, and to engage any hostile aircraft that entered the designated airspace.
  • The 1/200 scale model of the USS Enterprise with 4 inches Legend Section #J deck and F-14A BuNo. 161621, VF-111 "Sundowners", is a highly detailed replica of this legendary aircraft carrier and the famous squadron that operated from it. This model is a must-have for any collector or enthusiast who wants to own a piece of US naval aviation history.
